The Displaced, directed by Charles Whitcher, is an evocative filmed performance by renowned artist Serge Attukwei Clottey, set on the beaches of Accra, Ghana.

Joined by the members of his GoLokal collective, Clottey explores his family's ancestral migration from Bukom to Labadi, tracing their journey aboard a canoe on the ocean. The film captures the poignant moments of preparation as the boat sails amidst waves burdened with plastic waste. Through stunning visuals, Whitcher's direction brings Clottey's powerful vision to life, deepening our understanding of the ocean crisis and inspiring collective action by depicting the challenges and hopes of their voyage intertwined with the disheartening sight of plastic waste-filled waves. Clottey aims to foster a deeper understanding of the ocean crisis by shedding light on this narrative.

"The Displaced" invites viewers to reflect on migration and ancestral heritage, leading to a greater connection with our oceans' crisis and our responsibility to take action.
